You may have heard that you can get dental implants in a day, but is it really true? Well, as you might expect, the answer is yes – and no. Yes, for most people, dental implants can be installed in a day. For others, it may not be suitable. The short answer, if “teeth in a day” also known as “all on four”, may be of interest to you, is to come into the office at San Francisco Dental Implant Center for a consultation with our doctor, Dr. Alex Rabinovich. He will be able to advise you if you are a suitable prospect for teeth in a day.
There is no doubt whatever that, if you are looking for a way to get rid of those dentures, you are fed up with having bridgework attended to again and again, or you have a number of teeth that are loose or missing, then a full set of dental implants could be the very answer that you need.
The Nearest Thing To The Original Teeth
Whether you have a full set of dental implants or just one replacement tooth, the fact is that implants are the nearest thing to the original teeth that you can get. They work in exactly the same way.
The dental implant itself is a titanium screw which is inserted into the jawbone. In the case of dental implants in a day, four implants are used and a complete set of replacement teeth on a bridge is attached to them. Over the course of the next few months the jawbone grows tightly around the implants in a process called osseointegration, so that to all intents and purposes it becomes a part of the bone in the same way as the original tooth root was. During this period, patients are advised to avoid eating hard foods such as nuts, apples, and so on.
The actual process of dental implants in a day is as follows. First you need to come into the office for a consultation when our doctor will carry out a clinical examination and explain the procedure in detail.
On the day of the procedure you will be given a local anesthetic, and sedatives if required. Any failing teeth still present are removed, and four implants inserted. Then the bridge with the new set of teeth is fitted to the implants, and that is it. All done!
